Evidence needs to be tested which is why Higgins was under cross examination. It doesn't matter whether the charge is sexual in nature, or any other kind of criminal matter, such as common assault, the process is the same, the complainants evidence gets examined.
She is wrong to portray that she was on trial, indeed one could argue that she is playing the victim card.
