High cost of dithering

This is still a long way from commercialisation of course, but... Water-based Li-ion batteries ... if it proves to be robust over many discharge/recharge cycles you can be certain that the big players - Tesla, Samsung, Life's Good

However, it's an example of how quickly the technological landscape changes.  So if you make poor strategic decisions, or tactical mistakes, or dither indecisively - and Redflow has done all of these - you can find that when you finally get everything right there's no longer a market for your product.

Given that the trouble-free timeline to full production is six months from now, and three months to any product at all - and Redflow hasn't had trouble-free ever - I suspect that the window of opportunity will be just about closed by the time they're ready to climb through it.

We have recently seen technical developments that will significantly extend the life of lead-acid batteries on one side, and now on the other side the prospect of compact, high-current, heat-tolerant, robust Li-ion batteries.  Theere might not be much space between those technologies for Redflow.

I've been watching Redflow since I sold on the strategic response announcement, with a view to re-entry when the new production facility was coming online.  I might glance at it from time to time, but there doesn't seem to be much point now.  Regardless of the product's merits, the management have shown themselves inadequate for the task.

I believe that Redlow is not unlikely to be anything more than a marginal player supplying into a dwindling niche market.
