    Why would the Chinese or anybody else for that matter go back to the gold standard?

    Imagine that the Chinese just do that as continuously suggested by some posters. What would happen? Simple, the Chinese currency would appreciate destroying their competitiveness vis a vis the rest of the world and at a time when there is a global savings glut.

    Note. IMO there is more to QE than just trying to steal demand from your neighbor.
