I was in Western Australia at the time and the ports were shut for two or three days at a time. There two cyclons went across coast a month apart at Karratha.
We are building more offshore oil and gas plant as well as a new train No5 at Karratha for which we have to inport everything from overseas. We also are bringing special vessels to do this type of construction work as well as oversea skilled labour. We have not trained anyone in this country to carryout this type of work for over ten years. The mining industry in Karratha is in the same position with no one been trained. I think it is a really bad for this country that nobody seems interested in this country enough to start and train people. We just give it to who ever wonts to come in and do the job.I feel very sorry that we have got to this state in this good country. I work in the offshore oil and gas industry and have been there for some 33years nowand make a good living.
    Regards dennis
