Spot On. For once someone dares to deal with a hot issue. Of the three largest cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have large numbers of migrants. Some legal, come illegal and many on the border. These are guest workers and students.

Whats bad about them is that the illegals and the border liners are prepared to work for next to nothing conditions. Drivers who work around the clock and fix their books, construction workers, electricians, plumbers and fitters with dubius qualifications from mainly Asian countries have now taken the place of Australian citizens. hence the so called 'Boom' and high employment statistics.

Howard is smart enought to ride on the statistics and te media compliant enough to remain disinterested in the facts.

If one beleives Howard is responsible for our economic successes, one has to also believe he created Mad Cow disease to make Austrlaian beef a prefered beef of importers elsewhere. One also has to believe the same with Poultry and its problems, China's economic boom based on manufacturing which is dependent on Australian coal and iron ore which Howard made them buy.

It is also interesting that he would also claim credit for the worlwide low interest rate regieme as being a Howard/ Costello economic effort and the availability of chealy dumped consumer goods to the local market at the expense of Australian manufacturing (he is silent on the last bit) is also due to his policies.

Migrants are very Howard especially the Chinese. It is a love hate relationship. The dog barked once in the 1980's, another came along in the early 2000's and he tamed it and now has himself been put on a leash. They hold the reins.
