longhair, I won't get into a political debate regarding your first point but your second point, I think, highlights our main problem. Why couldn't someone with a score a lot less that top 5% become a doctor? I believe that if someone with a top 20% would like to study for 6 years, they should be given that opportunity, the same goes with nursing, in NSW, it's now a degree course- our health system hasn't got any better since the change, on the contrary, it's become worse. Back in the old days, if you were 5' 10" you could join the police force, now you need to have satisfied certain scholastic criteria to be accepted (I think you can be a dwarf), again, our police force, and 'law and order' is at an all-time low.
