I really do suggest you do your research further.
You DO NOT have to be a company to register for GST. If you (as a person) carries on a business, you (as a person) can apply to register for GST.
Regarding whether it is advantageous to have a corporate structure, or a discretionary trust, or a partnership, the answer to that will obviously depend on your personal circumstances, niz, you present tax liability, avenues to split income, etc etc. there is no one answer that fits all.
