there are a lot more factors involved including decades of oppression and the long term intergenerational epigenetic factors from traumas.

this is a highly contentious and complicated issue that has no simple answers. Pollies love simple answers that they can use to say "Hey Look at This... we are fixing Aboriginal problems". they don't like to consider the complexities and look for nuanced and subtle changes they could institute to actually address the core issues.

this is WHY the Voice is necessary.

exactly correct Scott, there’s so much evidence now that imprisonment is not the answer . Your stats don’t focus on deaths in custody which is a very relevant issue also . The HC mob only want the simplest and knee jerk approach ie lockem’ Up . Put them away so
they stop annoying us . The long term impacts are in opposition to what the intent is . I think we can draw a parallel attitude to the indigenous situation now in communities, ie keep them out of sight and out of mind. You have to laugh at this fake concern at the voice division fears , when division is currently there in spades by not doing anything to improve things. Simplistic thinking and looking for an easy way out will never help first aussies.
