Maybe someone more knowledgeable can correct me (I'm no great fan of margin loans), but as far as I am aware, the margin rates are the amount you can borrow against the share. Eg if you have $100 equity, Macquarie will lend you up to the margin rate x that equity (now $70, up from $55) on top of that for the share. In that case, Macquarie will lend an additional 15% for purchase of ABU shares (as of 22nd July) over what they will currently lend.
If that is the case, Macquarie have re-rated ABU upwards.
If I am wrong in my assumptions, please correct me - I would not be too happy if Macquarie know of some forthcoming bad news which the general market is not aware of.
