"Electronic design software company Altium will use its excess cash for acquisitions for now, but chief executive Aram Mirkazemi says the company will consider investing in cryptocurrency in the future.
Speaking to The Australian Financial Review after the release of its half-year results, the CEO of the $3.8 billion tech company said when it was a bigger company, it would be something it would consider buying into, like Tesla.
“It would be in 2025 or so. I believe that corporates need to have something equivalent of gold as a value store,” he said. “This seems to be the direction that companies like Tesla and a few others have taken as a viable path.”
But investment in cryptocurrencies will be some years off, as the business must first recover from one of the most economically challenging years in its recent history."
