So let me get this straight, you are peeved because you can't say to little Jonny you always had a gay time with your mates when you were young, without him snickering. Maybe try using another word if it embarrasses you, or how about sticking to your guns and bringing the revolution all by yourself.....start saying you are gay whenever you are happy - I'm sure everyone will understand you.

Ps whatever you do, don't go telling him how you used to wrap your lips around a fag or two.
