I'm sorry to upset any climate hypochondriacs here, but I've just read redpencil's ABC News link, with the headline "UN warns world on track to breach 3C rise by 2100", yet the article contradicts any supposed evidence for the 3 degrees warming. All it does is blather on mostly about yearly individual warming records.

If we accept that we've been in a steadily rising global uptrend which will deliver an approximately 1.5 degree rise by 2040, to get that extra 1.5 deg warming over the subsequent 60 years, we'll need at least a doubling of the current rate. This translates to an average rate from here on in of about 2.0 degrees per century - something which is not close to being, and has never been, achieved.

But the ABC article quotes the UN's own World Meteorological Organisation secretary-general Petteri Taala with:

"The long-term temperature trend is far more important than the ranking of individual years".

And the long-term temperature trend is: Nowhere near 2.0 degrees per century.

Alarmists, liars, bull sheet artists the whole lot of them. Time that somebody told them to stop peeing on our legs.
