I wonder though if you are correct in saying IRD does not have the product quality? Are you comparing apples with apples? From what I can see HIO claims 69.7% Fe @ p80 -26um and IRD 66.7% Fe @ p80 -106um unless I have got this wrong. Have you considered what IRD Fe conc. % would be at a grind size of -26um?

My understanding is that IRD chose this grind size as the sweet spot and is targeting the sinter market. This alleviates the need to pelletise which of course comes at an additional cost. IMO IRD is far more progressed than HIO.
