My understanding is that IRD chose this grind size as the sweet spot and is targeting the sinter market. This alleviates the need to pelletise which of course comes at an additional cost. IMO IRD is far more progressed than HIO.

HIO = Supergrade

IRD = Sweet Spot ( Trademark and hype potential? )

You are exactly right, IRD has done all the work and are targeting optimums for their resources.
IRD is development ready, HIO are at the if, but, maybe and hypothetical stage.

You have to admit though, the more often you say Supergrade the more you believe that your on a winner. Yeah, Nah !
