I've taken a position here because:
1) traumatic head injuries in sport are a massive issue. Every player represents an unfunded contingent liability to their club. Every club and code understands this now.
2) we are seeing law suits becoming common because clubs and codes have failed a duty of care to players
3) in addition to it's early diagnosis of potential traumas, this technology represents a cheap insurance policy for clubs and players in carrying out their duty of care.
4) once proven in a professional team (e.g. Scotland's rugby side for example) I think other clubs will be very quick to adopt. Once pro's are using it as the gold standard, then every mum that doesn't really want Johnny to be playing rugby/ league/afl etc, will insist that Johnny get one.
5) Catapult sports who are in sports analytics have a mc of $400m. HIQ could be a good take over target as it has some ex Catapult employees and they are dealing with identical customers, so it's a "would you like frys with that." pitch.
If these guys continue to get independent research verifying the products validity, and if they can successfully trial it with a number of codes, then the future looks great. Great for players, great for clubs, and great for HitIQ. Some market traction and successful trial might see a take over offer?????
I think there is a significant market need that is currently unsatisfied. I've got no idea what will happen short term with the price, but I like the space and the offering. GLTAH
