    i was polite,and let a lot ride.

    my point was that pilger is whinging that the atomic bombing of 2 small japanese cities wasn't worth it.

    if it stopped stalin, it was worth it.

    and flight,i never mentioned europe.if you don't know where manchuria,sakhalin,the kurils and korea are,get a map,or be content to look foolish.

    --and the consequence of stalin's invasion of manchuria was that he could harbour and support mao in the chinese civil war,providing infrastructure and logistics that bought the 'great leap forward' and the cultural revolution to china .

    if you want to mention europe,american nuclear capability stopped stalins dreams there too.
    austria was occupied,and reluctantly freed by stalin.
    greece was desired.
    finland,which stalin had invaded without cause,may have been pillaged worse without american power.

    and it is just dopy to say russia means nothing today.
    it is an energy,minerals and food powerhouse,and the 21st century could be a russian one as easily as a chinese one.
