Might go out on a limb here...

    Ocean disposal of radioactive waste
Since 1993, ocean disposal has been banned by international treaties. (London Convention (1972), Basel Convention, MARPOL 73/78)

If the waste is not classed as radioactive (maybe VLLW) by IAEA , do the London and the Basel Conventions apply.

**This is not a recommendation, Repeat "NOT". It is merely a question.**

Agree, if you can make money from the by-products, then do.

but if waste left over I don't know why they just don't dilute it with normal soil and/or mix it with Petronas radioactive waste from the refinery up the road and dispose in the same location.

Or find some soil in Malaysia with higher Bq count and dispose of there.

I feel for these backward people.
