I used to own a really cool car. Not a collectable but because it was fully engineered to be a convertible there were only 4 of them in Australia that I knew of.

I spent time and money on improving it, having spent about 6k buying it.

And then I moved to Perth for work and left it in a garage on the east coast because it was a niche car. And it couldnt be rego in WA.

I tried selling it. Someone actually offered 10k but that fell through, and no on ewoyld give me what I paid for it, and thought it was worth. And so it sat in a garage, deteriorating. Tyres perished, electrics faded, fuel tank rusted. Got to a point where I just couldn't fix it from Perth, or bring it over, and I ended up selling it for 3500.

My point is this. Something is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. It we are to closely attached to the item, sometimes we are unwilling to let it go, and then it risks going to waste.

Because if you're not careful it really will be worth peanuts.
