Great link Alec. I say hats off to VRB. It attracted my attention in the mid-90s (PCE days) when a friend of mine was involved in a university project on electric vehicle development, where the limiting factor was always the battery. Failing that I might never have heard of UCG.
Anyway, regardless of Factie's skepticism, let's not forget that the VRB embodies some impressive Australian technology and (in view of the kind of activity Alec's link points to - just love that mesa in the background, just like in the Road Runner cartoons) who's to say it can't still earn a dollar some day for CXY who own the Australian rights to it. How about a demonstrator VRB installation next to the Kingaroy turbine, storing up some of that lovely UCG energy when the syngas starts to flow?
