Pluton Resources Limited (“Pluton”) (ASX: PLV) is pleased to announce that it has completed its first drill hole and geophysical survey, confirming porphyry-style copper mineralisation at Cethana (EL29/2006), in northern Tasmania.

Drilling encountering altered Mt Read Volcanic rocks containing visible magnetite, pyrite and chalcopyrite (copper) mineralisation. The alteration style is consistent with inner propylitic alteration within a porphyry system.

Chalcopyrite mineralisation is visible in variable but consistently trace amounts over extended intervals in the drill core, including one interval of greater than 100m. Visible mineralisation occurs primarily as sheeted veins and associated disseminations. Two main vein styles are identifiable to date; magnetite-rich with pyrite and chalcopyrite, and quartz-chlorite-magnetite-pyrite-chalcopyrite. Chalcopyrite occurs intergrown with magnetite, supporting observations from drilling at the nearby Dove River prospect that the two minerals are coeval.

“Results to date are very pleasing” said Mr. Schoer. “We have already confirmed that Cethana is both porphyry-like and mineralised, and the IP survey has confirmed large scale targets for drilling.”
