According to an American scientist, interviewed by one of our top scientists, during the last major Covid/HIV conference, (at 5 in the morning!), the reason kids do well and aging is a disadvantage is the way the immune system responds.

As we get older, our immune system becomes very sophisticated from all the varieties of attacking diseases and such.

The immature immune system just throws basic antibodies at C19 in bulk. Fortunately these early molecules also happen to be the most effective.

The mature system generates a huge variety of responses learned from many years of colds and flues, etc. This is very taxing on the available energy of the organism and, while the immune system 'learns' and begins manufacturing the correct material in bulk, it is sometimes too late, as their bodies have used up too much energy in the learning process.

Regardless of the mutations, having the vaccine (IMO) will have your immune system trained as to the more effective response.

On a purely speculative level, I suspect that the mutations could be a problem if the body does not recognise the threat, but due to recent training, (vaccination), is slightly more likely to respond in the most effective way right from the get go, especially if it has the right antibodies still roaming around the system.
