Of course each and every one of us can make a legitimate protest, or even recourse to Law, to remedy a perceived slander or libel, but to actively intimidate with threats of death or violence is absolutely unacceptable.
Your man is right about the situation ending in acrimony because, also under the Law, we have a right to defend ourselves.
