All of us on HC are aware of the weakness of Tamiflu. Tamiflu was practically useless against the recent H1N1 Northern Hemisphere flu season virus. Many of the doctors were advised to treat flu patient with a combination of Tamiflu and Rimatadine. In past years, Relenza share of the seasonal flu anti-viral market was closed to zilch. The good news is for the first time Relenza outsold Tamiflu in the Japanese seasonal flu season. This I believe is also due to the Japanese awareness of LANI which is trailed by Daichi Sankyo in addition to the numerous teenage suicide of Tamiflu patients.

The genie is now out of the bottle that the highly contagious H1N1 Swine flu is growing resistance to Tamiflu in Italy, India, Hong Kong, NZ and the list is growing.
And the irony is the sp of BTA hardly moved despite these news. The professionals in the Health sector are one of the most well informed and educated group of people. They have to be out of their mind if they were to recommend buying Tamiflu for their national pandemic stockpile. Given these growing negative facts about Tamiflu and the fact that WHO had declared the spread of swine flu can no longer be contained, it is no rocket science to predict that Relenza should be selling like hot cakes to the pandemic stockpile. And it should not surprise anyone that demand is exceeding GSK’s production capacity.

Even blind freddy can see and hear the lack of marketing of Relenza by GSK. Each time swine flu comes on tv it comes with the yellow Tamiflu pills - has anyone seen Relenza on the news with swineflu? For those posters who are slamming us for revealing Peter Cook to be the idiot he is, why don’t these posters email Peter Cook asking him what he is doing to get GSK to increase Relenza marketing and production?
