I hate put in a reality check.
2,500 covid tests per day is close to capacity. These tests are run on Roche Cobas 6800 with 2 such instrument in each state. Cobas 6800 are big machines and takes up 50 sqm each and Healius labs are already constrained with space. Each run on 6800 takes up to 80 minutes from extraction to completion for up to 96 samples. This doesn't include sample preparation, labour time involved, review of positives, control and calibrations. At most you would be able to get 4 runs per 6800 per day.
It would be lucky to do 1million Covid tests per annum.
Losses in non routine pathology requests will be many millions per annum by current run rate of losses.
You can write this financial year off. How long this crisis lasts will determine whether a downgrade is likely for FY2021.
