The down dip drilling issue was referred to in the announcement so yes definitely a factor. However it will still represent pretty substantial mineralisation even if it is at the same width as Helmut South which goes 30 to 40 metres true width.
Interesting though that these sort of intersections have not been hit before in U/G drilling. Maybe it was a junior geo drilling flat drill holes??
Either way, SMY have opened up another nickel channel that they can explore both up and down dip.
The greatest interest will be up dip... why?... at these depths at Lanfranchi the ground is pretty tricky/stressed - it swells, they had a seismic there once.
So SMY will have greater interest in what is above the intercepts than below... note thought that the new location is at the same depth as current mining plan so there should be no major problems with what has so far been found.
my thoughts only.
Either way if you combine Winner, Schmidt extension and now the new Helmut extension, SMY look like having a prolonged future at Lanfranchi and can start ramping production up...
its certainly value adding in a big way..
