The Metalstorms Mach 5/50 was capable of similar things, OK slightly less, but not by a great margin, and I will bet the rounds for that didn't cost anywhere near $25,000 neither was the cost of the gun anywhere near what the cost of the rail gun is

The Gun used to fire Mach 5/50 could be mounted on a light armored vehicle, it doesn't need a gigantic power supply to fire it and the cost of the gun would be nothing compared to the cost of the rail gun, the Mach 5/50 weapon can fire on a repeatable basis, I hear that the rail gun needs to replace the rails regularly because they burn out due to the high arcing when firing.

The Metalstorm Mach 5/50 is light ,very portable, cheap to buy cheap to fire, and can be used in the field easily, you just watch, it will be on US owned light armor vehicles real soon if it isn't already?
