Stong indications are that the US is heading for a recession, if it is not there already. I have been getting reports from alternative analysts that the US Bureau of Labour Stats figures on jobs are garbage and over-states the number of jobs created. The US also understates the true level of inflation, basically I suppose to calm the general population, thereby enabling a smooth transfer of wealth from the average person to those who understand the system (ie the financiers etc).
The global re-pricing of risk and liquidity contraction is in its early days. It has at least another 2 years to play out. There are questions about how deep this will impact non-financial assets, including commodities. If it spills over to China then we can expect commodity prices to fall, perhaps heavily.
One day everythiing will be great again, but when will that be?
SXP is very long term play, unless they find oil. BHP will be careful about developing Olympic Dam too far ahead of actual demand because of the high costs and possible increase in uranium supplies from other sources. The price of uranium is trending down.
