Undoubtedly, for copper especially. Decent size/grade deposits are few and far between, exploration lags forecast demand, and copper (unlike some battery metals) is fundamental to electrification plans in many countries.

I've recntly got out of some other stocks in the battery metals space (especially nickel, e.g. CTM), as rapidly changing battery chemistry can make apparent massive demand disappear just as fast as it arrived. Lithium is a pretty sure bet to invest in, but I'm seeing several reports that LiFePO4 batteries are becoming the new standard, and recently large Chinese battery manufacturers supplying Tesla have come up with a version of LiFePO4 that replaces nickel with cheaper manganese (and uses a lower grade of lithium). Tesla are expected to transition their own battery production lines to the newer chemistry within the next few years, so will only need nickel for another 2-3 years. I don't see the forecast boom in nickel demand (and price) ever happening.

    All in copper !
