The cost would depend on the size of the plant. A Stage 1 50tpd plant costs over $100M.
Funny how you always try to see faults here with HNR, but you can't see any of the flaws in that other multibillion-dollar trainwreck you're holding.
My guess is a 10tpd plant (envisioned in the UK) would be 1/5th the cost, because it's almost 1/5 the size. So $20M? So let's make it
$35M to be fair, cost of living & all. Now I know you were being sarcastic with some of your sycophantic posts, but I don't think $35M is a lot of money for an ASX-listed company to raise. I imagine some cash would come from a lender (debt), some from shareholders (equity or placement, plus NMT & Greenhouse are our biggest shareholders) & perhaps even the OEM or whoever collects the batteries would throw some cash at a plant.
HNR can then
sell black mass & the following products. I would be happy with a plant that breaks even.
Products - PrimobiusYes, you then have additional costs for the Stage 2 Hub. But you could have multiple Spokes for one Hub.
Below is a map of the licence area. This is just a basic visual representation of what I'm talking about. I'm in no way suggesting HNR could get this many feedstock customers, this is just an example. The
red dots represent Stage 1 Spoke plants & the
green dots represent Stage 2 Hub plants. The black mass could be transported easily & it would cut down on construction costs. If/when demand increases then more or larger Spoke & Hub facilities could be constructed or even upgraded. I would imagine you could upgrade a 10tpd plant to a 20tpd plant or larger. It's a very flexible business model.
There could be two 10tpd spoke plants in the UK & Ireland feeding a central 20tpd hub facility. Two 20tpd & one 10tpd spoke facilities could feed a 50tpd Stage 2 in the Nordics & five 10tpd spoke plants in the Balkans could feed a centralised 50tpd hub facility.
I'm sure there are many more options, one being the Spoke & Hub constructed on the same site, without the need for transport.
All processed under one roof. I think it's all going to come down to the intentions of the feedstock partner & how much they influence the business model. Perhaps a feedstock partner, for example, a Gigafactory or cell manufacturer might want a 10tpd Spoke & Hub on the same site. Maybe an entity that just collects battery scrap from the general public is probably happy to process the scrap batteries onsite (to reduce the fire risk) & then send the black mass off to a Stage 2 Hub for processing. The entity can then claim its full cut, whatever the terms were agreed upon.

@Loophole1 that has suggested HNR could issue a sub-licence to another entity to recycle the batteries & HNR could just collect the cash. I think only the territories under the Greenhouse deal could issue a sub-licence. Not in the Nordics. I could be wrong about that, it's in the prospectus somewhere & I can't be bothered to check.
Anyway, there are many options out there for financing & growth with a flexible business model.
