A chart of Australia's commodity exports broken down roughly by their end use (original data from ABARE).
Note our dependence on the steel industry which is in a fair bit of trouble atm. I am inclined to think agriculture is the undervalued segment at present. I have noticed that quite diverse commentators such as Jeremy Grantham and Jim Rogers have been suggesting this. Not sure how to play this on ASX though. Perhaps time to buy a farm and move to the country...
