There seems to be an acceptance from some commentators that gold above $US1,300 is normal. Imagine predicting this two or three years ago. Perhaps $US1,500 will seem normal in another year. While US debt (oh yes and Irish and Greek and Spanish and British...) is so out of control it makes sense to take refuge in the ancient currency of gold. It's fascinating to speculate just how high it could go. I don't see any reason why it couldn't go to $US1,500 and perhaps as high as $US2,500. I suspect the real mania has not yet begun. If it it starts jumping $50-$100 in a day that may indicate the manic phase.
