The Herald Scum, huh? Who trusts a word that they write? And the headline "Carnegie waves at Victoria" - har har har!
Having said that I'm sure the story is fundamentally true. Maybe CNM are angling for something from the Victorian Government Renewable Energy Projects Fund ($72 million fund). I am absolutely sure the fund would require a local Victorian site. They're not going to hand money out otherwise, are they? Just like the WA Govt haven't handed out $12.5 million to see everything go interstate. Good on CNM I say. Go for Garden Island and Victoria at the same time. So I see Garden Island progressing closely followed by a Victorian site, perhaps.
It really does make sense to do Garden Island first, because it is so close to the head office and because they already have agreements with HMAS Stirling/Dept of Defence and Synergy, despite the wave energy resource being slightly weaker than all of the others (90% 1m wave rather than 90% 2m wave).
Hang in there peeps. Just (hypothetically speaking) imagine the following announcements in the next few weeks and months...
1. 5 MW for Binningup
2. 5 MW followed by 50 MW for Garden Island funded by ??? (Dept of defence? REDP & Investec?)
3. XX MW site in Vic, with assistance from Vic Govt Renewable Energy Projects Fund
4. REDP grant
5. Overseas projects... EMEC? Bermuda? Canada?
