Looksmart was never a penny dreadful - it traded at US$72 in early 2000 before the bubble burst and it owned one of the original web databases that web sites used to register with to be found by search engines. It has proved difficult to "monetize" the Internet traffic but now the paid search prioritization business model has become a huge success and LOOK has a good penetration. The major asset is the search facility for MSN but there are many distribution channels signed up with LOOK. Looksmart is already in Europe and Asia and the big paid search companies are attacking those markets belatedly, creating interest in paid search and building the markets for themselves and LOOK.
