Should've said I would've voted for Keating and I did vote for Howard, grew up in those years and the general mood of the country was very optimistic and everything was improving. Nowadays it's just a circus, corruption is endemic between public/private sector and politicians lack principle and vision.As for the statue issue, no one is swiping away history, if people want to study history there are almost unlimited info and books out there, nowadays everything is stored online and everything is preserved offline. There are thousands and thousands of records of people like Crowther that people can read about anytime they want, those info will never get lost..To build a statue is to highlight a particular person out of all those other people, if we gonna cherry pick a particular part of history why not choose someone that promote reconciliation with aboriginals rather than do the opposite.
