Crowthers strenuously denied he actually removed the Aboriginal's head, and there was not even a trial to test his innocence.
Under our system of justice, Dr. Crowthers is innocent of any wrongdoing. In spite of evidence in defence of Crowthers, there hasn't ever been an inquest into the matter. But the Hobart City Council has made the decision - that's democracy, I guess - just as it will be democracy when the referendum result is decided.
