DaveR. a BAD (Bank Account Debit) tax could be a good idea, as you say an extra 0.1% on all transactions, debits and credits would assist. The average person putting maybe $50k through his bank account annually would pay $10 a year in a BAD tax if my maths serves me correctly.

At the moment we also pay up to 3% just to use a credit card...maybe the it could be legislated that 1% of that goes to the Govt?

BB that 12.5% on w'sale would be right. The advantage to the retailer was that he had no returns to make, only the W'saler.
