You cannot talk about the Australian RE market as one market. There are numerous markets within the market. Inner city dwelling with land are very different to mining town units, as one example. Yes some will fail (and some already have), some will stagnate and others will continue to grow. It is not all one market.
Like in every other investment class, 95% of people get burnt and make mistakes. Same as with the share market. It is all cyclical. So all these 'hard conviction' doom articles need to chill out a bit because they are not sharing anything new. Just waiting for the clock hands to align over their set views so they are finally right for one minute.
There is nothing new ahead of us. Human behavior is not about to change direction and develop new traits. People have been buying, selling, failing and succeeding for centuries. Everything we need to know is already written in history. These hero authors generalising the market are really just pointing attention to themselves and waiting for the inevitable change in cycle so they can be right.
