zzedzz, my post was regarding the current budget and the forward estimates. The official figures show that Abbott and Hockey have increased spending estimates over and above the PEFO (Labor's spending) estimates.

You are arguing about year on year increases (info below), which is different to what I posted about.

    Government payments (spending)
    2008-09 $316b
    2009-10 $337b ($21b increase)
    2010-11 $346b ($9b increase)
    2011-12 $371b ($25b increase)
    2011-13 $367b ($4b decrease) (24.1% of GDP)

    Current and estimates
    2013-14 $411b ($44b increase)
    2014-15 $413b ($2b increase)
    2015-16 $424b ($11b increase)
    2016-17 $444b ($20b increase) (24.8% of GDP)

"...Labor increased spending every budget year...zzedzz"

zzedzz, check 2012-13, spending was reduced by around $4b on the previous year.

"...Hockey has started with a zero spend increase first up...zzedzz"

zzedzz, that is after Hockey added around $14b extra to the current financial year, so not quite correct as it is actually around $30b extra spending over the two years.
(With the 2014-15 budget spending being $1.3b more than Labor's spending estimates.)

"...Before swan took over, the budget spend was at $280 billion.....zzedzz"

zzedzz, how does that compare with normal growth and inflation in previous periods.
