GM, worldwide, has never been a trend setter. In Aus the Falcon has always been the more stylish car and Holden never had a GTHO equivalent.
They never pushed their engineers via competition and Holden never took advantage of niches in the US to sell the V8 Ute or police cruiser replacement for the Crown Victoria.
They built and showed the Effigy, and scrapped it.
If GM died worldwide it would not be missed.

BTW I've only owned one falcon sedan and it was rubbish, but stylish rubbish.
