You know what? I'm going to play the devil's advocate here and say that ultimately people will likely wear it because they have to. For ZIP in the short term it will spell disaster from a consumer perspective, although on the other side of the equation it could conceivably bring more merchants into the tent - with the further downside of more competetion among card and BNPL providers which will drive ZIPs margins down - that is enough to kill it too, but it then takes me back to consolidation and economies of scale, which for example Walmart in the US, with 4,600 stores and vast amounts of free capital could achieve.
