Let me ask you to do one simple calculation that will change your mind.
A) Go to Commsec or your broker or choice
B) Download the CSV file of all trades for the day
C) Calculate the proportion of all units that were sold today in a trade less than $200 (algorithmic trades)
D) Calculate the proportion of all trades less than $200 that resulted in a downtick (i.e. a movement down in price)
Compare your answer to C and D.
Your answer to C will be small and your answer to D will be huge.
By definition, illegal manipulation is the selling of shares in a manner that is not designed to maximise your proceeds of the sale.
It has been taking place for months upon months.
