Hologic has 3 systems in place to test for FFN. The three tests/devices are:

Access Rapid fFN Test:
Released in 2021.
Integration with Access analysers allows for an automated process, reducing the potential for human error and increasing efficiency in the laboratory. It also streamlines the workflow by enabling the test to be run alongside other assays on the same platform.

TLiIQ System:
Released in 1998.
The TLiIQ system is a point-of-care diagnostic tool designed for quick, on-site testing. It provides semi-quantitative results based on an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) format.

PeriLynx System:
Released in 2008.
Like TLiIQ, PeriLynx uses an immunoassay-based approach but may differ slightly in its automation and user interface.

Clinical Settings:
Access Rapid fFN Test: Best suited for clinical laboratories and larger healthcare facilities where integration with other diagnostic tests and automation is crucial.TLiIQ and PeriLynx Systems: Both are more suited for point-of-care settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and emergency departments, where rapid, on-site decision-making is necessary.

The Access Rapid fFN test represents a more modern and automated approach, integrated into high-throughput laboratory systems, whereas the TLiIQ and PeriLynx systems are designed for point-of-care testing with less automation.

Based on the above information, it would appear that PeriLynx and TLiIQ system complete the same task. The TliIQ has been in the US and been ongoing for 20+ years and the alternate is the PeriLynx system (rest of world) - why would Hologic continue to make 2 devices which perform the same task when you can utilise a next gen model which can also incorporate other tests into the same device?

LDX and Hologic Next Gen system could be providing systems like the FFN test but able to perform other tests at the same time for things like gestational diabetes, Strep B tests etc. IR already indicated that there could be a menu of tests adapted to this device, so why wouldn't you look at establishing a range of prenatal tests on the one desktop reader?

I think thats exactly where we are headed.

The stumbling block would be to get all participating companies on the same royalties scale IMHO

Imagine owning the IP on a reader that performs 200+ tests via a finger prick.

Get anywhere near 10% of this and the SP will be multiples of what it is now.

Unfortunately we currently only have 4 - and adding more is very time consuming.

I think a fantastic result would be adding 4 or 5 a year if possible to make the reader cost effective.

I've asked the company for clarity on it's intentions regarding adding the most basic common tests currently available
