It is quite ironic that some of the apologists on this thread are the same people who criticised me when I brought up Pim Fortuyn, the Belgium politician who was assassinated two days prior to an election because of his anti-Muslim agenda.
I heard plenty of, "it will never happen in Australia", "We are too far away", the same old "you can't blame one bad egg" analogy, and naturally, got, the bigot and racist rhetoric as per normal.
Now, a politician in our own country gets shot at. I honestly thought the heading was about Europe. Maybe because the apologists swayed me a little thinking it could never happen here.
