So what do we have here? A clear-as-a-bell step change in the data around 1980 which is absent in any of the surrounding stations. Clearly there was a sudden and permanent change in the weather in a localised region a few kilometres radius around the Amberley station, small enough to have no effect whatsoever on the surrounding stations, and this adjustment is a fraudulent cooking of the books. There can be no other explanation.
