Yeah I wAs wondering about sarcasm tristanc , was very subtle , maybe that says something subconsciously.
but seriously we had long threads just recently on adjustments and how it all accounts for for changes in thermometers, screens, shading etc etc. now your saying its adjusts for lack of these. That the very series that has no apparent changes that is sadly lacking in the data should be changed and with no explanation? Now your way to smart to surely accept that? Surely there's an ounce of proper scientific scepticism(not the tin foil hat variety) in even the stoutest of "believers" like yourself would say " hang on this needs to be explained". To adjust a series that has no apparent flaw(one hasn't been stated) other than it doesnt "look" right according to what we expect must raise some eyebrows. If as you say it's from a change to a measuring device with a different systematic error, then that would be fine. Can you please provide the link that backs up that assertion.
