2 million + citizens came out to protest. The Chief Executive of Hong Kong said she could go out to shop & do her hair.

Then they govt started to ban all protest.

Then the govt was "perceived" to have colluded with triads & police.

Triads when to MTR (subways) and beat everyone up with sticks & poles. People called the police, the phones lines were jammed, when people got through they were told you should of think of what you did. Police did not arrived for over 50 minutes & arrive 1 minute after the triads left.
The triads came back for a second attack. People called police, MTR staffed call police & people went to police to report current attack. Police closed the police station & arrived 3 hrs after the incident.
When police finally came they were hostile to reports asking questions. As there were a group of triads holding sticks & poles. The police arrested no one that night, they only tock the poles & sticks & said they have no idea who did it.

That was all before the airport sit in.

Clearly citizens were shocked by this incident & hence why protesters have still the support of the public after all their actions
