Does each country supply the information for these stats.,if not,how are they compiled to ensure that cross country comparisions are valid?
Does an 'honour' killing count as a murder?
How do these stats distinguish between murder, manslaughter and suicide?
How many murders in Western countries are committed by those whose beliefs are derived from other countries and societies eg the murder of Van Gogh in Holland. Does that count as a murder in Holland?
I am reminded of the old adage 'Lies, damned lies and statistics'. Where do these figures fit in?
