    @watso I am not a great one for most of 'popular' music - but I usually pick up what's really popular - the 'evergreens' - but have widely divergent taste in music - as you will see from this particular thread - some very select and beautiful music, often not as well-known as the people who became a commercial success.
    Great you went to/see listen to the Red Army choir - that would have been in the late 1990s - I took a totally boorish and uncultured 'boyfriend' to it and he was very impressed . . .
    10 years earlier Perth had a visiting male choir from ?Georgia' or Azerbeidshan singing really complex music - I went along with my husband (who was also musical) we were overwhelmed at their skill - male voices in complex musical acrobatics, as well as giving the underlying hummmm are just so beautiful and calming -
    I believe singing is a uniquely human activity and give expression to our better self. Do a search for 'Georgian Singing' you'll find mostly male choirs but I picked some charming girl singers and I love donkeys . . . .
