Dear @Sweetsound - is there anything you don't know????
I like the first one, second one is too 'affected' these guys wouldn't know hard work if it bit them . . . amazing bass though!
last one is at least folksy
I learnt it during my 'socialist' period (all of 1 1/2 years of 'indoctrination' and slow realisation it had replaced my 'catholicism') But I, we (my boyfriend, later husband played guitar) - learnt some wonderful songs, and "16 tons" was one of them. I/we also sang a song which was called 'Wir sind die Arbeiter von Wien' which i instantly loved for the various minor changes in the tune - years later I realised it had been a march written on order of Stalin by a Jewish Composer who finished up in Hollywood (Samuil Pokrass -1897–1939), but not before making a detour through Europe and taking his 'song' along, eventually leaving its refrain in 'Les Feuilles Mortes' (Falling Leaves) - such are the by-ways of sound and music . . . of course another composer is credited for 'Les Feuilles Mortes' no matter - wonderful songs all
