This reply is coming from a very cynical position - I am a South Aussie who has worked in the mining industry for 30+ years, here and also in WA, NT & QLD and I cant for the life of me understand how or why our labour govt has/is making it so bloody hard for any future mining ventures to get off the ground. The fact that they are minions to the green cause is the biggest problem I see....
I would be very worried that if any deal was struck with the chinese to buy and take over the running of the Whyalla steelworks, it would only be a matter of time before they closed down the operation, therefore, making us totally dependant on steel from China, and watch just how quickly the price of that steel would go through the roof once we were totally dependant on it...
I would be very wary of any deal brokered by the current labour stalwarts in SA....
